It is common for languages to adopt words from other languages. This is usually called "borrowing". Many words which are now English words come from other languages. This is an interesting resource that gives you examples to look at and asks you to try and match the English word with the language that it was borrowed from. It doesn't matter if you don't know them all. It is very interesting to read the answers and see where the words come from!
